Black Engagement Rings - Midnight's Honor

Black Engagement Rings

Black engagement rings are incredible. The dark aesthetic of a piece of art that wraps around your finger is captivating. And lucky for you, I make some very unique rings. They're hand-forged. I'm talking blacksmith made— hammered out on an anvil and quenched in oil.

This post is designed to give you some different ideas for your ring selection and some information on black rings in general.

Black Ring Meaning

Is there just one? Of course not! That'd be too easy. There's a bunch, which is perfect because it muddies the water and creates a do-whatever-you-want environment. That said, it doesn't hurt to know.

The black ring on any finger of the right hand (other than the middle finger) has been adopted by the swinger community as a form of signaling sexual availability.

A black ring on a person's middle finger (also of their right hand) signals asexuality, or their present inavailability regarding sexual advances.

If you happen to fall into one of these groups, fantastic. Rock your ring on your chosen finger with pride.

If you want to be concious, I'd avoid wearing it on the middle finger. As someone with a littany of sexual encounters that were very harmful, I think it's best for us to give some people that might be recovering from a lot, the peace of mind they need. For my part, I used to wear a ring on the ring finger of my left hand because people would see it and leave me alone.

At the end of the day, you get to choose the meaning you assign to your ring. Plus, most of us don't know about the meanings of rings. I advise wearing your ring on the finger you want. And being as respectful to the appropriate communities as possible when you encounter them.

As for the left hand, as far as I know, your free to do whatever the heck you want. Note that the ring finger in western influenced cultures is still seen as the " I'm married" signal.

Though it's also important to note that other cultures sometimes wear wedding rings on their right hand.

Again, choose your own adventure and kill it with your own style— in only the way you can.

Black Engagement Rings for Him.Black steel ring

Typhoon | 34.99

This ring is styled after a black rain-soaked torrent of wind. The exterior has always reminded me of a hurricane. And that's where the name came from. Hurricane + downpour = Typhoon. This ring is available almost every drop, and I designed it to be affordable as hell. Cause I know how expensive life can be when you're planning something big.

Also just how expensive life can be.

Black steel ring

Dragon scale | 41.99

Another ring in my more affordable line. Take a look at the cross-hatch series of ridges that encircle the band. What's badass, takes to the skies in most high-fantasy universes, and breathes fire?

A dragon.

What do these ridges remind me of?

A dragon's skin. Aka a dragon's scales.

Brass Ring

Badlands | 39.99

This ring has Mad Maxx, Borderlands, and [insert some kind of post-apocolyptic world here] vibe. It's for the person that has been through a whole lot— the one who has metaphorically spent their forty years wandering the desert and fending off wave after wave of demons.

It's for those that want that rugged look.

Now, I know. The ring isn't black (though there are some dark spots). I just couldn't leave this piece out of the discussion.

Sapphire gem in black ring

Sleep Eternal | 189.99

This is the far reacher in terms of price. The most expensive ring I sell (as of this writing) is $250, and this one gets close to that upper limit.

Ususally gem pieces are reserved the feminine, but this ring is something else. It took me about a year to develop the setting for it— a combination of a partially drilled hole and thin rods with a collapsed chamber to keep them in place.

And the aesthetic is mint. You'll look like a monarch out of a fantasy series, if they were transported into modern times and knew how dress in a stylish contemporary fashion. It goes well with streetwear, formal wear (rock that suit you know you look good in), and casual wear alike.

Black Engagement Rings for Her.

Black star-shaped ring

Polaris - New Moon | 74.99

This piece is perfect for our dark queen. The edges look sharp, but I make sure to grind them down just enough so they don't catch and snag on fabric.

The piece is named after Polaris, the brightest star in the sky. A star that offers its light as a guide to travelers who may be lost. It's light is always there for us. A soft nudge that pulls us toward the path we were meant to be on.

Tempest | 74.99

It's as if a gale was captured in black steel and offered to someone beautiful so that they could wear the razor-wind harmlessly around their finger. It looks out of this world. Something lunar in addition to its sheer qualities.

Green Moissanite set in black ring

Medusa's End - Memento Mori | 209.99

This ring is the third installment in a set of pieces curated after the myth of Medusa. The piece signifies the stepping of Medusa into a place of thriving following her unjust persecution.

Doing so meant she arrived at a place where she realized she no longer needed to bring her past with her. She was able to move on and live her life on her own terms. Those that were not forced upon her by her past.

Black Engagement Ring Set

The rings pictured here are merely a suggestion. You could grab one from me. both from me, or none from me. At the end of the day, I want for you to have a ring you and your partner are both happy with— because rings have a very special meaning to me. You can read about my story and where my rings come from here.

But there's something else I want to mention first.

Here's the thing about the terms him and her. They have become outdated. It's best to start thinking in terms of feminine and masculine. As these are now a more accurate representation of the aesthetic. I mean no offense by these terms, and encourage us all to use the pronouns that accurately represent us. For me that's he/ his/ him.

I say this, because getting engaged is not exclusive to any combination of pairings. It's all inclusive in many parts of the world.

And also because a "man" can like a dainty band, or a piece with a gem in it. Just as a "woman" can like a thick strong ring.

If you get nothing else out of this post... please—

Pick the ring you want. Not what society is telling you to get.

And chances are if you're looking at "black engagement rings" you are likely already stepping away from that line.

Be you. The world is more beautiful with the authentic you in it.
