Rigel, one of the many Star Gods, watches over His domain with a steadfast and tender hand. But it wasn't always this way.
The Gods are violent. As much as they create they consume. This is not intention, it is merely their nature. Rigel is and always has been blessed in power and mighty in strength. He could release his destructive force and devastate his domain. However, the Star God chose another path. In his earlier days he swallowed up all that was around him. Matter deconstructed to its building blocks. He is a titan. He knew this then as he knows this now. Almost nothing could touch him.
But in this proximal eradication— and through the subsequent life force reactions of the Star Gods— he guided himself to a different path. One that watches over the other, smaller Gods of his system. One that guides the planets subtly around his domain. Rigel balances the cosmic forces of creation and destruction within his Self. He is duality.
Rigel's Oath was decided by none other than Himself long before we inhabited this earth. It is a vow that seeks to use his power not only for himself, but also to guide, tend, and protect those around him. This promise was solidified when he reached into his own being and removed a sliver of his essence. It was to be a reminder of His nature. One that burned as brightly as Him and thus would be impossible to look away from. Over the eons, this sliver cooled and calcified.
The stone in this ring is a part of that sliver.
It is said that none can truly own this ring. Only those who's matter resonates with the Star God Rigel may wear it. It is said only a soul that balances creation in one palm and destruction in the other can come into its possession. And those that are chosen are said to inherit not only the will of Rigel himself, but also of the others he has chosen.
May His oath serve you as it has served Him and those he has chosen.
From Nick:
Of all the people I'd pick for one chosen by Rigel, it would have to Lizzie. I think Elly would be laughing and nodding her head as I type this out. Rigel's Oath symbolizes the masculine "get shit done" energy and the feminine "nurture and befriend" force. It is a culmination of things believed to be diametrically opposed in many western schools of thought. If you ask me, Lizzie's spirit is infused in this story and infused into this ring. For she was one who taught me how consistent love can be and at the same time how to rip someone to pieces when there was no other way out. I believe a modern take on a Buddhist mantra is "Do no harm, take no shit."
Embody creation and destruction. Channel Rigel. Carve your path forward with your own twist. But be warned. Rigel's flames are hot. And they burn those who stray from their oaths.
