The Patriarch is one who reigns over his fellows. He makes hard decisions. Ones that earn him ridicule and scorn. The true patriarch is one who makes these decisions with great care and wisdom. Who weeps for those that come before him in the wake of their personal disasters. Above all, a patriarch is one who listens. For he understands that he himself is fallible. He makes mistakes as we all do. And that there is no possible way for him to know all.
From Nick:
This ring symbolizes male authority. A buzzword in todays tumultuous milieu. I cannot claim to know what is best for all humankind. What I can resonate with is the collective anger, disappointment, and subsequent tuning out in the political world.
When I say this represents male authority, I mean the ideal as I see it. One who wields power without pretense. One who looks never to control another for his own selfish gain. Truthfully it's a power no one would ever really want. For it brings all of the burdens and responsibilities of wielding such power, without any of the perks of wielding it. It's selfless, kind, and humble. One who dons The Patriarch ought to consider the true weight of the ring's symbol.
